Bladder Symptoms And Multiple Sclerosis
Up to 80 percent Of newly diagnosed people with MS have experienced bladder problems in one form or another that increases to approximately 96 percent of those who have been diagnosed for 10 years or more.
There are four different types of bladder problems and somebody with MS can experience any one of the 4 or all 4 at one time or another.
1) Incontinence: Where people have trouble controlling the release of Urine.

Frequent Urge: Just as the name implies3) Constant Bladder fullness 4)Difficulty in starting to urinate or sustaining a steady stream.
Some people may experience urinary retention in the bladder which may require some form of Catheterization.

There is a simple test to determine Bladder disfunctions called a Urodynamic assessment.Basically the test consists of drinking lots of fluid and checking to see how the bladder functions. Sometimes the constant bladder fullness,and frequent urge forms of bladder problems are because the the bladder is not fully emptying. This can be dangerous because it can lead to a Urinary Tract infection or UTI. The reason this can be so dangerous to a person with MS is any infection can cause an overactivity of the Immune system. Many people experience bladder abnormalities as their first symptom of MS.
